Our Take: “Buy It”
With six tracks and coming in at just under 30 minutes, the second release from Champaign emo rock band Euriah keeps with the band’s distinct style and manages to include some more unique additions in songs like “Ingrained.” Overall the album is well laid out and has a good flow. Longer songs like “Passenger” avoid too much repetition and are able to hold interest moving seamlessly between instrumental and more lyric heavy sections.
“Ingrained” is by the far the most interesting track on the album, bringing in a cello and vocals from Tara Terra frontwoman Emily Otnes. The song begins and maintains a slower pace than the other tracks, taking its time to highlight the cello at the beginning of the song while Otnes’ vocals complement Eric Stanley’s nicely. Songs like this separate the band from a typical emo rock sound and elevate the music on all levels. I would hope they look to incorporate more of this work on future releases.
