Our Take: “Buy It”

TASHA’s coolness is painted by a smooth positivity, gliding through the pristine production on her Divine Love EP with messages of hope and love. The Chicago artist’s R&B rhythm is impeccable and is used a perfect amount throughout the five-song, debut release.

TASHA (real life’s Tasha Viets-Vanlear) carefully swings through melodies and then utilizes brief runs of quick-spit lines that peak your interest without becoming over-used. It’s a held-back maturity that highlights the attentive artist that Viets-Vanlear lays out for you in just over 10 minutes. And in that time, she casts messages of black unity and power in a time where that voice has needed to be as loud as ever. TASHA’s Divine Love is quick, accurate, and to the point. Those 10 minutes are powerful, pleasing, and easily repeated after one trip through the release.
