Here are some shows to check out around Illinois this week:
Ghost Track Featured Show
ZXO / Nature’s Neighbor / Colonel / Christopher Elam
Quenchers (Chicago, Ill.)
8 p.m. | 21+ | $5 | Wednesday, July 22
After playing the Ghost Track feature show in our very own Sean Neumann’s apartment in Champaign this past Thursday, ZXO journey up I-57 to play at Quenchers in Logan Square. Also playing this show is Chicago pop collective Nature’s Nurture, folk act Colonel, and singer-songwriter Christopher Elam. You can buy tickets ahead of time here.
Stardeath and White Dwarfs / Truck Parts
Mike N Molly’s (Champaign, Ill.)
8 p.m. | $8 | Friday, July 24
Psychedelic rock band Stardeath and White Dwarfs are coming through Champaign on Friday, July 24. While the draw of frontman Dennis Coyne (The Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne’s nephew) will “put some butts in the seat,” the most interesting factor in this show may be the debut of CU band Truck Parts. The new band, featuring members of Deathram and Hathaways, is gearing up for an EP release later this year and has began to step out into the public eye after releasing their first song via Bandcamp last week.
Dingbat Dungeon (Urbana, Ill.)
7 p.m. | $5 | Saturday, July 25
Champaign hardcore punk band Wolf Luv will be headlining a six-band DIY show at the Dingbat Dungeon in Urbana. Reach and Leech both played Dumb Fest 3D in Springfield earlier this summer, both putting on entertaining sets. The Urbana show won’t be as high-profile as the Central Illinois punk festival, but packed in a hot basement and this show has all the potential to raise the bar.
MTVGhosts (tape release show) / Lamp / Skip Church / Strange Faces
Ratt House (Chicago, Ill.)
8 p.m. | Saturday, July 25
MTVGhosts are releasing a new tape off of Chicago DIY label Dumpster Tapes. The label will also have shirts, patches, stickers and more for sale. This party is BYOB. Message the Facebook event admins for the address.
