SantahSantah w/ Tigerbeat, Buffalo Rodeo, Boycut

The former Champaign-Urbana band Santah returns to CU to play with locals Tigerbeat and Boycut. Buffalo Rodeo rounds out the bill, traveling from Bowling Green (KY). The indie-pop show is highlighted by the now Chicago-based Santah, but Urbana band Boycut will be interesting to see their transition to a live setting with their synth-pop sound that works well in recordings.

7 p.m. (Friday), 6 p.m. (Saturday) | $10 weekend pass | June 5-6 (Friday-Saturday)

Thirteen Central Illinois bands will perform live in Monticello at the Kalyx Center Barn, including The Fights, Rebecca Rego & the Trainmen, Finer Feelings, Neoga Blacksmith, and more. Visitors are invited to camp out over night on Friday and enjoy the full day on Saturday are invited to play horseshoes, cookout, and explore Allerton Park.

Thee Deathtower

8 p.m. | $5 | Sunday, June 7

Chicago band Ratboys tours through Champaign, playing at Thee Deathtower. The band last played Thee Deathtower last year on a tour in early August. The band takes folk roots and adds a kick with a full-band behind each song. Ratboys recently signed with Topshelf Records in May and are gearing up for the release of their debut full-length album Aoid on June 9.

Windmills will also be performing, having recently signed with Heirship Records out of Champaign, along with Woozy out of New Orleans.

 

 


Dumb FestDumb Fest 3-D

Black Sheep Cafe (Springfield, Ill.)

3 p.m. (Friday), 1 p.m. (Saturday) | $10 in advance, $15 at door | Friday-Saturday, June 12-13

The third-annual Dumb Fest takes place in mid-June, showing off the best of the DIY punk and hardcore scene from across the country. This year’s festival is highlighted by Tenement, Cloakroom, Dowsing, Looming, and Toys That Kill.

Thee Deathtower is hosting an all-day show on Saturday, June 20 featuring a number of bands from the Champaign-Urbana festival. Although headliners Trauma Harness had to drop off the show, there’s still plenty of great live music to keep attendees occupied throughout the day.
